The city of Bogota, Colombia, hosted the Regional Erasmus+ Cluster Meeting and Contact-Making Seminar for Latin America and the Caribbean. On October 7–8, 2025, our partner organization from Germany, represented by Daniel Almedia, showcased our joint project, VET EcoLume, specifically the component “Education institutions as beacons of green behaviour.”

The event was organized by the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) of the European Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). It focused on a central theme: “The role of education in the green transition.” Over the two-day seminar, participants explored how education and training policies are prioritizing the integration of knowledge about the climate crisis and learning for the green transition.

VET EcoLume promotes collaboration between Europe and Latin America, sharing best practices and innovations in sustainable lighting. This reflects the Erasmus+ Cluster Meeting’s goal of supporting cooperation between Latin American, Caribbean, and European education actors, and encouraging project partnerships that address climate and sustainability challenges.

Sustainability is increasingly being embedded across the entire education spectrum—from curriculum design and educator training to institutional infrastructure and operations. The event also included networking sessions aimed at fostering project partnerships among Latin American, Caribbean, and European stakeholders.

VET EcoLume serves as a practical example of the kind of cross-regional, sustainability-focused educational initiative that the Erasmus+ Cluster Meeting seeks to promote. Both contribute to a broader movement to use education, international cooperation, and advocacy to drive the green transition and address global environmental challenges.
