March 2024 marked a truly productive and inspiring chapter for the VET-EcoLume project in Colombia. Our team had the opportunity to engage with key institutional and municipal partners who share our vision for a greener, smarter future through vocational education and sustainable innovation.
One of the highlights was a highly constructive meeting with Mayor Raúl Eduardo Cardona González and representatives of the Municipality of Envigado. Together, we explored the strategic importance of the VET-EcoLume project in the broader context of sustainable urban development. With a shared commitment to tackling light pollution and advancing environmentally responsible lighting practices, this dialogue affirmed the project’s relevance at the local policy level.
In the academic sphere, we were warmly welcomed by Dr. Alejandro Vasquez Tieck, President of UniRemington University, and a group of dedicated professors who will play a central role in the implementation of our upcoming activities. Their enthusiasm and commitment to the project highlight the critical role that universities play in strengthening vocational education and training (VET)—especially in emerging fields such as sustainable lighting design and digital transformation.
Our visit also included a collaborative session with Dur Montoya from Activa Limitada (Chile), one of our international project partners. The exchange of ideas underscored the value of cross-border cooperation in building innovative, transferable solutions to environmental challenges.
These meetings were more than symbolic gestures, they set the foundation for deepened collaboration, knowledge exchange, and skill-building that will empower future professionals to lead the green and digital transitions across Latin America and beyond.
We are incredibly energized by the momentum in Colombia and grateful to our partners for their support and shared vision. The work ahead is ambitious, but together, we are lighting the path toward a more sustainable future.
